Hey there, I woke up quite early today and there’s nothing to do, so I figure out that I should write some more… As my stay in Kota Kinabalu was terrific! It gets even better when I reach to Sepilok (Sandakan)…. Sepilok owns the very place what they called SORC “Sepilok Orang Utan Centaury” it is here where you can see the orang utan live…
My foot takes me here to Sepilok, Actually I was on the volunteering program with the RDC, “Rain Forest Discovery Center” It started before I’ve embark on my journey to Borneo which I’ve called up the Orang Utan Centaury and ask about the volunteering program, but they told me that its full and gave the RDC number to check it out… So I’ve called up the RDC and asked if they are willing to accept me… After 2 days I’ve called them up again and they agree to accept me in..
This is when my fun day start!!
My 1st day kick’s off as I have to guide and explained about RDC and what are the things around the canopy walk way that hang’s about 30mtr from the ground. They are the disability kids from one of Sabah disability people associations as I cant recall the exact name… The kid’s was co cute and obedience….
This is RDC:
Then on the eve time, Hubert ~officer in RDC~ invite the volunteer’s to his house for his kids birthday party.. So we had a lot of fun there.
On the next day, I’ve spent half of my day in RDC and another half in SORC… Its time to meet the Orang Utan.. so cool!!!
The feeding time for the Orang utan is on 3pm 1500hrs, so get yourself half an hour early, i think the tix is Rm15.00 and additional Rm10.00 for the camera… its worth it!!
Below is the place that i stayed
Banana in: Rm28.00/night+breakfast, dorm shared 4pax (near SORC)
Sepilok B&B : Rm26.00/night+breakfast (near RDC)
What we do after working hours?? Hang out and have a drink at williams… Wiliam’s is the owner of the family store nearby the Sepilok B&B… Really nice people though
What we do here is just throw some funny stories or making fun of people and everyone just cant stop laughing…. when i close my eyes and remember back what we’ve said, the smile just lighten up… I missed the moment!!!
I’m of to Sukau to embark another journey through the Kinabatang river and work with the KOCP Kinabatangan Orang Utan Centuary Park and ECU the Eephant Care Uni, where we face2face with the wild Borneo Pigmy Elephant…
To be continue…
