From Kuching, I have arrived in Kota Kinabalu international airport with the last minutes tix that cost me RM192.00 with check in luggage. It was a sunny afternoon which i meet up with Kiwi and Aussie girl that has travel on the same route as mine from Kuching… Sooo we’ve chit chat and figure out to share the cab to the town that cost us RM30.00 if I'm not mistaken..
They asked me where I’m gonna stay for the night and I told them that I have no idea since I’m a ad-hoc backpacker. They told me that they gonna stay at the Step-in B&B and if I wanna joined them there.. So there I was booking my 2 nights stay.
Step-in is the budget traveler choice to stay in for the night as the aircond bed only RM38.00/night and normal non aircond is RM28.00. Malaysian beware because the room is shared with 3 other people, so be open minded and keep your things to yourself.
Just below the step-in is the night market that runs between 1900-2300 and facing the harbor is the Philippines market, about 1 minutes walk. So if you’re in K.K, this is the place to stay… Free flow cold/hot water, breakfast included too. For dinner and lunch, don’t be lazy to walk… there’s food everywhere. “Cheap food” ~hawker style~
Sorry about the girl with the finger.. lolz so we end up wondering around the market and get our self some massage… The view was a bomb though…
so as I got back to the longue… I meet up with some other traveler that we’re going on the same route as I am.. Meet up with Aaron, a German lady and American teacher that have been traveling all alone too.. So its a bless to meet up because on the next day we end up renting a car to Poring and Kinabalu park.. It only cost us Rm40.00 each. If you take the tour trip its gonna cost you Rm 180.00.
Me and Aaron planning the trip…
We have to stop half way, what do you think! Its a freaking “Kancil”!!!~that small white car, and 5 gigantic human being riding on it.. well actually, its a few stop.. lolz But on this stop we bought some of the local fruits…
Poring hot spring has a natural hot spring pool that rich with sulfur, and they have a private bath for the visitor to enjoy a private bath with hot and cold tap.. It takes ages to fill up the bath-up but its worth waiting and chit-chatting…
As Sabahan says “Buleh tercabot bah sisik-sisik dbadan mu ituuu” lolz
Entrance for Malaysia Rm 3.00 non Malaysian Rm 15.00, tix can used on Kinabalu park, so dont throw away your tix….
And now we’re heading to Kinabalu National Park about 1 hour drive from the Poring, its about 35km away….
We enjoyed it very much on the Kinabalu National park as it was nice and cold…
when we gat back we went for a nice Philippine BBQ at nearby night market as everyone will depart to a different route…. Its a memorable stay in Kota Kinabalu for us!! cheers
To be continue….
Funny traveler,
Bear
